I'm working on something scary, big and scary, no, very big and very scary. It's something I have been wanting to do for a long time, but have put off because of fear, something that will push me into a zone of discomfort, but will bring me so much joy, something with distinct challenges that have overwhelmed me in the past, but have helped me learned which mistakes I cannot repeat.
There's no doubt that anxiety is high in these troubling and uncertain times. As if the pandemic isn't causing enough worry about the health and well-being of our friends and loved ones, we are also suffering significant uncertainty concerning job security, finances/expenses, emotional well-being, access to necessities, children's schooling and (insert whatever you're worried about).
When I found out I was pregnant with Isabella in October 2006, I naturally felt a profound need to change what I was putting in my body. I was growing a human who was subject to whatever choices I made. So I wanted to ensure that she had the most wholesome start possible. Our household quickly converted to an organic diet heavy on clean, whole foods.
My increased attention to food hygiene turned into a keen awarene...
With the exception of certain diagnosable deficiencies, which require a physician's prescription or recommendation, you've heard me argue that a sound and varied diet offers most of the minerals and nutrients a human needs.
And, the human body has a limited capacity to carry most vitamins and minerals. So, megadoses of supplements often end up being peed out and flushed down the toilet, and the money you spend on the...
You may have heard me make the analogy that food is to your body as gasoline is to your car. If you put orange juice in your car's gas tank not only with your car not run, it will probably break. The same is true of food fuel.Your body is equipped to process naturally occurring nourishment. So when you put poor quality food energy into your tank, you'll perform poorly and may even start to break down.
This summer has rocked me - in good ways and not-so-good ways. I mean, we did everything and nothing in the same 8-week period of time.
🛳We traveled. A lot.
🥩We ate all the goodies.
🍷We drank all the drinks.
🌊We sat by the pool and the ocean, on a boat and on land.
🌻We visited with friends and family.
🎈We did birthdays, and camp, and cookouts, and campouts.
📷We made lots and lots of memories.
Life is a pressure cooker. Career, relationships, parenting, money, lack of sleep, exercise, rest...and on, and on, and on. Self-care often takes the back seat to other priorities and obligations. The stress mounts and pressure builds strong and steady over time. So, when was the last time you let the steam out of your pressure cooker?
It's been a long time for me...I've been working a ton, trucking the kids...
🛩 Both in business and in life we hear about the 10,000 or 30,000 foot view - climbing high above the situation to take a look at the broad picture.
💫 If you’ve been in an airplane you know that from that height you can see land masses, large bodies of water and some obvious landmarks.
💫 But the details are too distant to be clear. You can’t see cars or people. Colors and textures are blurred and blended.
💫 And if yo...
